MEET GABY
Gaby Acosta is an Emmy-nominated Costume Designer best known for her work on Taylor Sheridan’s 1923, the critically acclaimed Yellowstone prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer. Her work on 1923 earned her her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Period Costumes as the show’s Co-Costume Designer
Born in Tijuana and raised by a single mother, Gaby forged her path into Hollywood with no industry connections—driven by determination, talent, and a deep passion for storytelling through costume.
She began her journey at FIDM, majoring in Visual Merchandising, which kickstarted her career dressing models for fashion shows and working in a showroom for a fashion production company, where she became engulfed in the high-end fashion and the editorial world. After meeting a wardrobe stylist, she landed a gig assisting a designer in reality television, which opened new doors to opportunities in network television, national commercials, music videos, and eventually, film.
Gaby eventually met acclaimed Costume Designer Kristin M. Burke, leading to a costume assistant position on The Conjuring 2. Since that moment, Gaby’s career has catapulted to new heights, working with some of the most celebrated costume designers in Hollywood, including Janie Bryant, Sanja Hays and of course, Burke.
Over the past 15 years, Gaby has worked as a stylist and designer on projects such as Fast and Furious 9, Captain Marvel, Veronica Mars, Fear the Walking Dead, and 1883; as well as campaigns for brands such as McDonald’s, Logitech, Toyota, Walmart, Wells Fargo, and more.
Gaby is a proud Mexicana with Native roots. She strives to champion authenticity and diverse representation through her work; and hopes to pave new paths and serve as inspiration for Latino costume designers coming up behind her.
